Vitus is a former slave from The House of Batiatus.

Character Outline

Vitus is a young man with a toned-muscular build and short black hair. Initially lacking combat experience, he receives training from Peirastes and gains a moderate amount of skill. His willingness to go on dangerous missions is evidence that he possesses a large amount of courage for such a novice warrior.

He speaks up his concern, angering Agron, but later calmed down by Spartacus. He then expresses to Spartacus that he will kill many Romans.

Vitus takes part in the mission to rescue Naevia from the mines. As he informs Spartacus that someone is approaching, he is stabbed through the back and killed by Marcus.

Trivia

• Vitus is greek, but his name which was derived from Latin vita "life". One possibility is that he was born a slave.
• Vitus' name was shouted during Crixus' Funeral by one of the rebels in order to honour him.
• As a normal house-slave, Vitus may have been Baiulus,  or porter.
