Pompey's Messenger was sent by Pompey to inform Crassus and Julius Caesar about a meeting with Pompey. It is due to him that Crassus realizes that his son was captured by Spartacus.
Character Outline[]
Pompey's Messenger is a Roman soldier with a thin build, and short, curly, brown hair.
War of the Damned[]
Pompey's Messenger is dispatched by his commander, Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, to meet with Marcus Licinius Crassus in order to discuss terms of negotiations.
This confuses Crassus as he had already met with an envoy of Pompey, leading him to question his son's whereabouts. This, in turn, confuses the messenger as he informs Crassus that he was the sole envoy dispatched to meet with Crassus. Crassus then asks if there were any others sent, to which the messenger confirms and also informs of how one such group had been reported missing in the area where Spartacus is believed to be. It is this revelation that leads Crassus to discover his son had been captured by the Rebels.
The messenger then leaves the tent while Crassus and Julius Caesar discuss what must be done.
Trivia[]
- The actor Bryce Langston is seen uncredited in season one as a gladiator of Batiatus' who participates in the Massacre at the House of Batiatus.
- Given the appearance of his uniform, the Messenger may have been a middle-ranking commissioned officer, such as a Tribunus Militum, as he was sent to speak with a commander as high-ranking as Marcus Crassus.
