Narto is a gladiator in Batiatus' Ludus. He appears exclusively in Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.
Description[]
Narto is of average height, with a medium but muscular build, shaved head, and stubble. He fights as a Hoplomachus, wearing the typical gear of his class in training and in the arena. Having been warmly greeted by Titus, who tended to favor both skilled and motivated gladiators like Oenomaus and Auctus who lived by the code of the brotherhood, implies he is a man of some integrity. This is consistent with his attempt to intervene when his doctore, then Ulpius, attacked Oenomaus.
Combat Prowess[]
The fact that he is chosen to compete in the opening games of the new arena, and that he lives to fight in the primus, shows him to be a gladiator of considerable skill. His warm greeting by Titus upon the latter's return to Capua implies that not only has Narto been a gladiator for the house of Batiatus for many years, he has been one worthy of note for at least part of that time, and worthy of Titus' elusive respect.
Gods of the Arena[]
Narto is generally seen training with the other gladiators in Batiatus' Ludus.
When Ulpius becomes enraged and fights against Oenomaus, Narto attempts to stop the Doctore from his assault, but is thrown aside and then reserves to watch the ensuing fight.
He is greeted fondly by Titus Batiatus upon his return to Capua, revealing that Narto is actually a gladiator of renown.
When Titus has the gladiators face one another in contest to rank them, Narto faces off against Dagan. They fight on equal level, with Narto even kicking Dagan back, but the conclusion of their fight is not shown.
Narto later joins his brothers in the primus against Solonius' gladiators after a successfully fighting throughout the day. He tries to thrust his spear through Caburus but is ultimately cut down in the neck, being the first in the primus fight to die.
Quotes[]
Titus: "Ah, greetings. Auctus. Narto. Oenomaus."
Varus: (When Narto died) : "First strike to Solonius!!"
