Lysandros is a former slave from the House of Batiatus turned Rebel.
Character Outline[]
Previously a house slave in the House of Batiatus, Lysandros escaped with Spartacus following the revolt. He is tall with short brown hair and a tanned skin tone to his above medium build and is usually seen fighting with two swords.
Combat Prowess[]
Along with his fellow former house slaves Vitus and Pyrrhus, Lysandros was considered a good candidate to become a warrior and received his early training from Peirastes. During the early months of the rebellion, he participated in most of the major battles against Glaber and his forces.
Following the defeat of Glaber, Lysandros remained in Spartacus' army and continued to be a capable soldier until he nearly met his end along with many of his other comrades when Crixus fell, but he survived and would go on to survive the end of the entire rebellion. This was a true testament to his skill as a warrior as he survived the entire might of the Roman legions led by Marcus Licinius Crassus.
Vengeance[]
Lysandros is one of three who have done well in their combat training under Peirastes. He is granted a sword following the success of his training and as a result becomes a fighter in the rebel group.
Following the taking of a Roman villa and freeing it's slaves, tensions rise between Agron and Crixus. Lysandros elects instead to go with Agron to Vesuvius rather than join Crixus and Spartacus resue attempt of Naevia from the mines.
Following Spartacus, Mira, Nasir and Naevia's reunion with the rebels, Lysandros moves to the Vesuvius Temple with the others, coninuing to train to hone his skills and doing labor jobs around the
sanctuary.
When the forces of Varinius and Glaber attack the temple, Lysndros takes up arms and defends the sanctuary, but is forced to retreat up the mountain with the other rebels.
Lysandros would then witness the death of Ashur at the hands of Naevia and cheer her on along with the other rebels present.
Led by Oenomaus, the rebels charge against Glaber and his forces following the flanking maneuver by Spartacus, Crixus, Agron, and Gannicus. Lysandros fights well and slays many Romans before witnessing Spartacus' trimumph over Glaber.
War of the Damned[]
Lysandros remains a loyal and capable soldier in Spartacus' army in the months following the defeat of Glaber and Varinius at Vesuvius. His appearance has changed greatly since he first escaped the ludus, appearing more muscular in his build.

When the rebels attack Sinuessa, Lysandros, along with fellow rebels Ortius and Theologidis, is one of the first of Spartacus' soldiers to enter the city gate. During the sacking of the city, he is seen stabbing a wealthy Roman in the back and dragging him away. Following the successful assault, Lysandros takes to living with his comrades inside the walls of the conquered city. He is among the rebels who laugh at and ridicule Ulpianus when he is forced to fight to the death against another Roman captive.

When a trade is arranged between the rebels and Heracleo, Lysandros is among the small group of soldiers who accompany Spartacus outside the city walls. When the trade is interrupted by Romans under the command of Tiberius, Lysandros charges the enemy headlong. He once again shows his mounting combat skills by surviving yet another vicious battle.
Crixus eventually spurs the the rebels in a frenzy, slaughtering the surviving Roman prisoners. Lysandros is one of the many that rebels that take part of this, but is stopped by the arrival of Spartacus.
When the forces of Marcus Licinius Crassus begin their siege of Sinuessa, the rebels are forced to flee the city, Lysandros is among the last rebels to make it out before the gate collapses.
Lysandros retreats to the cold mountains with the other rebels. Stuck in camp, he survives the harsh storm that hits them and then takes part in the fight against Crassus' wall. Following this victory, Lysandros moves on with the rebels to escape the mounains.
When Spartacus and Crixus eventually decide to take separate paths, Lysandros chooses instead to go with Crixus in order to bring the army to Rome. He fights in many battles alongside his comrades, and slays many Romans. Lysandros is caught off guard along with his comrades by the arrival or Crassus and his legions. During the subsequent defeat of Crixus' army, Lysandros is among those that are captured.
Lysandros awaits the Roman attack in the final battle.
Lysandros is later one of the 500 captured rebels who are exchanged for Tiberius.
Lysandros is last seen standing behind Spartacus before the start of the final battle. He manages to survive and escape the battlefield and embrace true freedom with his fellow surviving comrades.

- Lysandros name is Greek in origin and means Freer; liberator.
- Lysandros is one of many slaves presented in Vengeance that did not appear in Blood and Sand.
- Lysandros is a rarity among the rebels in that he is usually seen fighting with two swords, perhaps indicating that he received training at some point from a gladiator with expertise in the style of Dimachaerus.
- Lysandros is the only student of Peirastes still be alive, Vitus is killed by Marcus, Peirastes is killed offscreen by Glaber's men and Pyrrhus is killed offscreen between Vengeance and War of the Damned.
- Lysandros and Euclid are two of the only surviving named slaves from the House of Batiatus who aren't gladiators; at the same time, Lysandros is one of the one of the only surviving non-gladiator rebel fighters next to Timocles, Adal, and Nasir.
- Actor Michael Surman confirmed that his character survives the final battle and escapes the battlefield to into the Alps.
