Flavia is a female slave in The House of Batiatus.
Appearance[]
Flavia is described as an attractive young girl who is short with pale skin and long black hair that is normally bound up behind her head.
Morituri[]
Flavia is first seen as one of Lucretia’s many attendants when she is trying on a new wig. She is ordered by Naevia to apply stibium to Lucretia’s face with a black brush, though she is quite nervous due to her Domina’s angered temper. When Flavia finishes, she is told to set wine and food for Batiatus’ return from a meeting with Albanus. Later, when Batiatus returns, Flavia brings water and a box of oils and unguents to wash his feet, which is when Batiatus takes the opportunity to direct her to perform fellatio on him. In chapter 3, Batiatus invites Albanus to a dinner where Flavia and another female slave are made to wear revealing garments while serving them. Before Batiatus leaves he unties Flavia's robes, leaving her completely naked to entertain Albinus who proceeds to grope her.
Trivia[]
- Flavia is a Latin name meaning blonde, however, she is said to have black hair.
- Flavia’s race is never clearly identified other than being of European origin. Her name is Roman, but it is more likely that she is either Greek or Barbarian, which is more common for slaves.
- Flavia is the only female house slave besides Naevia to be given a name in the novel Morituri even though many house slaves are mentioned.
