Canafacina

One of the Rebels being killed through Carnificina.

Carnificina is a Roman punishment meaning execution in Latin.

War of the Damned[]

In Spoils of War, the captured rebels are each executed through Carnificina to celebrate the retaking of Sinuessa. One is ripped apart and his arm is pulled off, and two others are executed at once, each wearing a helmet and having their heads beaten in with hammers. Donar is the last one seen executed, and while not suffering the executions seen before, he is forced into gladiatorial combat against Caesar. It is unknown if any others were executed after Donar, or if Donar was the last one.

Trivia[]

  • Relating to the Carnificina, a Carnifex was a professional torturer and executioner of slaves and common criminals in ancient Roman society. It is derived from the words Carnis, or flesh, and Facio, or 'to make'. In other words; butcher. The nature of the Carnifex's job was considered lowly and spiritually impure, and Carnifices (plural) were often reviled, though, their profession was considered necessary in society.
