Syrian

Characters whose heritage is said or indicated to be "Syrian" in the show. In reality, this demonym has little to do with its modern counterpart. Romans used "Syria" to refer, more or less, to all lands east of the Black Sea, north of Egypt, and west of Athura (also known as Assyria), which belonged to the Persian or Sassanian Empire. The population of this region was (and still is) highly diverse, so calling someone in the show Syrian actually tell us very little about them. They came from many different ethnicities, including Assyrians like Ashur and Dagan (whose names are Assyrian) and Arabians like Nasir (whose name is Arabic).
