Adal is a young rebel in Spartacus' rebellion.

Character Outline

A rebel in Spartacus' army, Adal wears a set of makeshift armor and utilizes a spear as his weapon in combat. Adal has a tanned complexion, long curly black hair and a thin build. He wears a soft, but firm and durable loincloth made of leather with fur on the inside.

War of the Damned

Adal is a loyal rebel in Spartacus' forces. When the games to honor Crixus are being held, Adal watches and cheers on his comrades as they fight against the Roman prisoners. 

Although he desired to fight against Crassus' army, he is instead sent across the Alps with all of the non-combatants of Spartacus' army. However, with Laeta, Sibyl, Belesa and a few others, he chooses to wait at the foot of the mountains for Spartacus' return.

Trivia

• Adal may have originated from the Vascones, an indigenous Iberian tribe whose territory extended over present Navarre, western Aragon and La Rioja in northern Spain just south of the Pyrenees. The Vascones are considered the ancestors of the modern Basque people.
• Given his youth, Adal may have been enslaved just a few years prior to the Third Servile War in Pompey's war against the renegade Roman governor, Quintus Sertorius, and his Lusitani allies. Pompey founded the military colony Pompaelo (modern Pamplona) on the site of the Vascones main settlement of Iruna.
• Adal is one of the is one of the only surviving non-gladiator rebel fighters next to Nasir, Timocles, and Lysandros.
