Acer was a gladiator in Batiatus' Ludus' and later a rebel under Spartacus' command.

Appearance[]

Acer is a Gaul, and one of the gladiators who escaped Batiatus' Ludus with Spartacus following their revolt from the ludus. He has an athletic, muscular build with long black hair.

Personality[]

Acer is volatile and reckless like many of the Gauls, and is very outspoken, especially when it comes to insulting those he considers a threat. He is fiercely loyal to Crixus and good friends with Rhaskos and his fellow Gauls.

Vengeance[]

Acer followed Crixus in the days after escaping the ludus, bringing food and game along with Rhaskos, Liscus, Fortis and the other Gauls, but expresses reluctance and hostility at the thought of sharing it.

The Rebels later leave the sewers and take control of a villa. Acer and Liscus are the only two wounded, noted as an act of recklessness. Some nights later, the rebels are deciding what to do next as Naevia is said to be dead. Acer refuses to follow with Agron, leading to a short brawl involving Donar and their respective allies. Eventually he and the other Gauls are calmed by Crixus who annnounces they're going with Spartacus and Agron.

It is eventually discovered, however, that Naevia is alive and Agron lied. A rift forms within the rebels, with the majority moving with Agron to Vesuvius and Acer and others going with Crixus and Spartacus to find Naevia.

Acer accompanies Crixus and Spartacus to The Mines to rescue Naevia. However, he like Crixus and Rhaskos is captured by Ashur and the Roman soldiers sent to ambush them.

Acer and his fellow Gauls are taken back to Capua to Batiatus' old ludus, where they are imprisoned. Acer sarcastically comments returning the ludus and with Rhaskos yells his loyalty to Crixus and they are with Crixus to whatever end. In their cell they reunite with their old Doctore, Oenomaus.

At the feast held in Varinius' honor, the prisoners are paraded before the guests, with the announcement that one of them to be tortured to death for their amusement, as retribution for the slaughter of Batiatus and his guests. Lucretia is given the honor of choosing the victim, and she picks Acer.

Varinius gives Seppia the honor of dealing the final blow, but when Acer looks into her eyes, she cannot kill him. Ilithyia, eager to gain Varinius' attention, takes the chance and casually ends Acer's life with a sword-thrust to the abdomen.

Later when the rebels manage to defeat and capture Publius Varinius, Crixus angrily assaults the Praetor and desires Vengeance for his involvement of the deaths of Acer and Rhaskos, but didn't have tome to do anything, as Varibius was killed by a flaming boulder.
